On the Move

Shortly after the marriage of our youngest son Paul in June 1996, Nancye and I decided to attend
Rhema Bible Training Center in Broken Arrow, just outside Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Paul attended Rhema for two years, met his wife Rebecca there, and they graduated in May 1996.
They married and left for Florida to help four other Rhema graduates start Cornerstone Family
Church in Rockledge near Cocoa Beach.

Nancye and I got rid of a lot of “Stuff” and left Danville on August 24, 1996, with what we could get
on one truck. Nancye had emergency surgery four weeks before, and the doctor said she couldn’t do
anything for eight weeks. She got well in half that time!

After a long day on the road, we parked the moving van in Nashville and then rolled into Broken
Arrow the next day just before a beautiful sunset. It was Sunday, August 25, 1996.

On Monday, a kind and patient real estate agent took us to many of the vacant houses in the area.
By Friday, we had moved into our dream house (not a big house, but just right for us). We were
able to rent it until we sold our house back in Virginia.

We’ve had a wonderful experience at Rhema, with anointed Bible teaching mixed with the practical
wisdom from instructors experienced in ministering the Gospel. We also have the blessing of
associating with the other students. There are about 100 international students among the more
than 1,800 attending. One first-year student is a 92-year-old woman, who wants to go to the
mission field.

Second-year students must choose a specific area of ministry. I am in the Missions Group. Each
year, groups of Rhema students go to the mission field to assist established ministries. We both
believe we should go on the India trip and have begun to work and save for the January [1998] trip.
Nancye is working in telemarketing. I have been working with a crew of painters at an apartment
complex.

I told Nancye about working on a 28-foot ladder. She quoted Psalm 91:7, that “a thousand shall fall
at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.” I asked her to pick
another scripture since there were six other Rhema students working on both sides of me! These
falling scriptures are better suited for other occasions.
In India we will be working with Pastors Narhari and Lata Thorat, Rhema
graduates, who have pioneered The Lord’s Delight Ministries and operate The
Great Commission Bible Training Center.

The fifteen Rhema team members will be speaking at churches, doing one-on-
one ministry, and acting as servants to the needs of the ministry there.

We really enjoyed seeing all our friends and family this summer. My sister
Marion and her husband Herman gave us the use of a nice rent-free house
during the summer. To them and to all who have prayed for and encouraged us:

God Bless You
